J.J. Darboven

We want to offer you an instructive apprenticeship so that you can develop and qualify yourself. However, as we can only offer a limited number of training places, it is an advantage if you apply to us a year before your training starts. We will then review your written application and give you feedback in any case.

Your application should include your CV, your most recent school reports, any work or internship references and a cover letter explaining why you are interested in this particular apprenticeship. This will help us to understand your motivation and gain an initial impression of you.

Please upload your application in PDF format to our job portal under the relevant training program. You will receive an automatic confirmation when this has been successful.

We will get back to you within a maximum of three weeks. If the process continues, an on-site interview will follow. Be authentic and ask yourself beforehand why you are interested in this particular apprenticeship and why you have applied to us. In some apprenticeships, this is followed by a taster day so that you can find out even more about what we do.

Before you start your apprenticeship, you will receive some information about the first few days. We usually start with two introductory days where you get to know the company, the trainers and all the other young talents. The higher apprenticeship years are also there so that you can ask questions and make contacts directly.

In your cover letter, highlight the life events and experiences that make you suitable for the apprenticeship: A previous internship? A stay abroad or simply a passion for the field of work?

The most individual part of any application is the cover letter: It should be personal and close, highlight individual points from your CV and arouse curiosity to get to know you personally.

This is precisely why a cover letter that you design yourself is essential. Countless templates and draft formulations from the Internet should therefore be viewed with caution. Focus on your personality!

Point out why your previous knowledge and skills may be the reason for your interest in J.J. Darboven and arouse curiosity to get to know us personally. For example, explain in your cover letter what you have experienced so far and what makes you suitable for the apprenticeship. You may already show these stages in your CV, but in your cover letter you can link selected points to the company's requirements.

Of course, we know that not everyone has a talent for writing. These tips will help you write a successful personal cover letter:

• Personality: Tell us who you are, what you are passionate about and why you would be a good fit for us.
• Commitment: Your letter of application should address why you would like to complete an apprenticeship at J.J.Darboven. What interests you about our company? And what about this particular apprenticeship? Find out more about us as an employer and about the content of your apprenticeship.
• Qualifications and skills: What in your CV is particularly relevant for the apprenticeship? For example, an internship in which you were able to gain initial experience in your training occupation. Point this out and arouse our interest.

There are also a few formal criteria that need to be observed:

• Spelling and grammar: A careful application says a lot about an applicant.
• Personal address: The cover letter should be addressed directly to the contact person specified for the apprenticeship.
• Short and informative: The cover letter should be no longer than one DIN A4 page.

Good to know: Have it proofread! It often helps to have a relative or friend proofread the cover letter and CV in particular to avoid careless mistakes or to get further tips.

The CV should be clear and structured, have no gaps and show all stages of your career.

There are different approaches to the CV. As an applicant for a training position, you can't go wrong with the antichronological structure, so start with your most recent experience and then go back in time. Sort by category:

1. Start with your personal details (name, date of birth, place of birth, etc.).
2. Then list your school career and qualifications in antichronological order.
3. If you have already gained professional experience (internship, part-time job, voluntary work, etc.), also add this in antichronological order.
4. Now add your interests and special skills (IT skills, languages, etc.).

Please attach all relevant certificates to your application:

• Your last two half-year reports
• Internship certificates or work references, if applicable
• Certificates or awards, if applicable

If you did not complete your school leaving certificate in Germany, you must have your certificate recognized. You can obtain information on this from the education authority in your city.

In the interview, you can go into more detail about your interest in the apprenticeship and demonstrate how well you have prepared yourself. Show how your enthusiasm matches that of the company, explain important milestones in your CV and convince us with your know-how.

Your application documents have convinced us and we have invited you to an interview? The first hurdle has now been cleared and we can get to know each other personally.

After we have introduced ourselves and J.J. Darboven with a few short sentences, we will ask you to tell us a little about yourself and explain your CV. This will often lead to further questions and a pleasant conversation in which we can get to know you better. We may also ask you about your strengths and weaknesses and what you know about us as a company. Depending on the training occupation, a written recruitment test may take place during the interview.

5 tips from our trainer:

• The job interview is an important appointment. Plan your journey in good time so that you don't run the risk of arriving late or stressed.
• Dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable. However, make sure you have a well-groomed appearance that is appropriate for the apprenticeship.
• A certain amount of nervousness is quite normal and the excitement often subsides after a few minutes. Be yourself and tell us a little about yourself.
• Know your strengths and show how you deal with your weaknesses.
• Also prepare questions that you can ask at the end of the interview, such as questions about the company or your training occupation.

During the interview, show how your enthusiasm matches that of the company and impress them with your knowledge of J.J. Darboven: whether it's your preference for hot drinks such as coffee, cocoa and tea, the company's brands such as IDEE KAFFEE or sharing the company's values such as the fair-thinking concept of the Fairtrade organic brand Café Intención or the company's social commitment and sustainable actions.
