Hamburg, the gateway to the world

Since 1866: Quality with history

J.J. Darboven was founded on March 21, 1866 by Johann Joachim Darboven in Hamburg. It was here, in the northern German gateway to the world, that our company founder took his first steps as an independent coffee trader. Today, the successful Hanseatic family business is run by the fourth generation of the Darboven family, Albert Darboven.

With a broad product portfolio of coffee (e.g. IDEE KAFFEE, EILLES KAFFEE, Café Intención, Alberto, Mövenpick and Sansibar), tea (EILLES TEE) and cocoa (COCAYA), the company is the market leader in the out-of-home sector and also impresses with its coffee brands in the food retail sector. J.J. Darboven has always stood for quality, tradition and innovation. The group is now active in nine European countries - Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, the UK, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Poland and Slovakia.

Tradition meets harbor wind

A company with a northern German character

Hamburg and Darboven - they go together like coffee and pleasure. Today, our company, which was founded in a small office in Hamburg's Speicherstadt warehouse district, employs over 800 people and operates successfully throughout Europe. Nevertheless, our close ties to Hamburg remain unchanged.

This is no coincidence: the Port of Hamburg is Europe's most important transshipment point for green coffee, and at the same time values such as reliability, consistency and trusting partnerships have always characterized J.J. Darboven's corporate culture. With the historic Speicherstadt, Hamburg also has a unique quarter that is inextricably linked to coffee culture - and is still a symbol of the company's roots today.
