Validation of the climate targets by the SBTi

J.J. Darboven receives validation of its climate targets from the SBTi

Working together to decarbonize the industry

Hamburg, January 2026 - J.J. Darboven Holding AG & Co. KG has set itself ambitious science-based climate targets. These have now been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi thus confirms that the company's climate protection targets correspond to the latest scientific findings and are in line with the 1.5-degree pathway.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an international partnership between the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). It supports companies in developing science-based climate targets that are in line with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

As part of the validation, J.J. Darboven is committed to reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 63% by 2035 compared to the base year 2023. The company is also aiming to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 37.5% in the same period. In addition, the hot beverage expert is pursuing the goal of reducing absolute Scope 3 FLAG (Forest, Land and Agriculture) emissions by 45.5% by 2035. This target includes both emissions and CO₂ removals.

J.J. Darboven Holding AG & Co. KG is committed to no longer deforesting its most important raw materials associated with deforestation by December 30, 2025.

"The validation of our climate targets by the SBTi is an important milestone for us," says Juliane Schröder, Head of Sustainability at J.J. Darboven. "As a family business, we think long-term. This includes taking responsibility for our contribution to climate change. With the new targets, we are creating transparency and guidance to consistently reduce our carbon footprint and make our value creation even more sustainable."

By participating in the SBTi, J.J. Darboven is focusing on transparent, verifiable climate targets and thus reducing its own carbon footprint in a targeted manner.
