J.J. Darboven was founded in Hamburg on 21 March 1866 by Johann Joachim Darboven. The successful Hanseatic family business is now managed by its fourth generation, Albert Darboven. With a comprehensive product range comprising coffee (e.g. IDEE KAFFEE, EILLES KAFFEE, Café Intención, Alberto, Mövenpick and Sansibar), tea (e.g. EILLES TEE, PLATEANUM) and cocoa (COCAYA), the company is the market leader in the catering sector and its coffee brands are also performing impressively in food retailing. J.J. Darboven stands for quality, tradition, and innovation. The group is currently active in ten European countries. Hamburg and Darboven belong together like coffee and pleasure. It was here in Hamburg that company founder Johann Joachim Darboven took his first steps as an independent coffee trader in 1866. Today the company has over 800 employees and is active in ten European countries. This has not affected the relationship to Hamburg. There are good reasons for that: Firstly, the port of Hamburg is Europe's largest delivery point for green coffee, and secondly, J.J. Darboven has always relied on traditional Hamburg values - reliability, consistency and trusting partnerships. And of course the whole historic warehouse district in Hamburg is inseparably linked to coffee culture.
