Where enjoyment feels right at home.
For more than 150 years, we at J.J. Darboven have devoted ourselves to roasting the finest coffee beans, producing extraordinary coffee creations and distributing exclusive coffee brands. Brief: We love coffee. And we love tea and cocoa. But what we love above all is sharing our passion for warm beverages.
The Hanseatic sense of entrepreneurship also means being committed - to one’s company, the employees and the community. Beyond that, J.J. Darboven stands for quality, stability and reliability. The name is also a synonym for the vision and prudence of a family business in its fourth generation, run by Albert Darboven.
These values have allowed an international trade organisation, with about 900 employees and 16 subsidiaries across ten countries, to emerge from a Hamburg-based coffee business. This was also made possible thanks to the consistent focus on the highest level of quality, careful management and respectful handling of resources.
One of the most important principles at J.J. Darboven consists of taking responsibility and working sustainably as a company. The company undertakes many projects in the field of culture, sport or social involvement to this effect. Among these activities are the inclusion of people suffering from disabilities, the support of intercultural exchanges and a passionate involvement in football and horseracing.
Still, the consideration of social obligations reaches well beyond Hamburg and Germany: This is why Albert Darboven awards the IDEE Sponsorship Prize for young female entrepreneurs every year, alternating between Germany and Poland. J.J. Darboven supports long-standing commitment programme aimed at improving production and living conditions for our coffee farmers with the Honduras Education Life Project (H.E.L.P.).
In the last 150 years, the owner-run family business J.J. Darboven has become a thriving, internationally-structured warm beverage expert. 16 subsidiaries and around 900 employees across 10 European countries form the backbone of the high-quality coffee, tea and cocoa enterprise.
High levels of ethical and social responsibility and mutual respect belong to the corporate identity of the group. Furthermore, J.J. Darboven supports the people in the areas where our products are cultivated, for example with a wide range of Fairtrade-certified products as well as the H.E.L.P. funding project.
