From social responsibility
Creativity, commitment, entrepreneurial spirit, and an outstanding idea: These things should be brought forward by the entrants for the IDEE Sponsorship Prize. Our company has been awarding the prize, which has a total value of 65,000 euros, every two years to young female founders with promising business ideas from all sectors of the economy since 1997. Since 2006, the prize has also been awarded on an annual basis, alternating between the Poland and Germany.
The award for innovative female entrepreneurs supports courageous female entrepreneurs in venturing into self- employment and further developing their ambitious projects. The decisive factors for the award of the prize are aviable business concept, the degree of innovation of the business idea, the personal involvement of the founders and the number of new jobs created or to be expected.
The use of artificial intelligence, also known as AI, was the topic of the 2017 winner, Manuela Rasthofer. She was won over by the concept of her company TerraLoupe GmbH to use AI to create "world maps of information" from ordinary aerial photographs. Thanks to this data, a self-driving car, for example, knows which traffic sign is behind the next bend.
"Strangers are friends that we haven’t met yet." This clever sentence sums up the core idea of the Kulturbrücke Hamburg e.V.: The association wants to break down prejudices against migrants and promote dialogue between children and young people.
As a supporter of "Switch - Around the world in 4 days”, J.J. Darboven helps to facilitate intercultural exchange. As part of the project, children spend four days meeting peers of different origins and getting to know their families and traditions. Not only is this fun, but it also lays down the foundations for tolerance and promotes mutual understanding.
The Ronald McDonald House with Oasis in Hamburg-Altona has been located directly at the Altona Children's Hospital since the beginning of 2015. Each year, the 11 apartments offer a temporary home to around 250 families and their ill children. A special feature is the integrated "oasis" for families whose children have to be treated on an outpatient basis. The parents' house was planned in such a way that the common areas, such as the kitchen, living room, and playroom, can also be used by outpatients and their relatives as a retreat during the day.
J.J. Darboven supports the Hamburg-Altona Ronald McDonald House with a sponsorship for the roof terrace, among other things. The parents and siblings can relax here, escaping everyday hospital life and engaging with other families. In addition, our company provides warm solace with coffee, tea, and cocoa in the common areas.
