Darbohne – J.J. Darboven’s little mascot

We love coffee beans, which is why the little Darbohne is our faithful mascot. Lovingly designed comics told the adventures of Darbohne in rhyming verse as early as in the 1920’s and 1930’s.

In addition to our coffee-growing related activities, we would also like to use H.E.L.P. to improve the educational conditions for children in Santa Bárbara. H.E.L.P. has selected three schools in San Nicolas, which are the current focus of the project.

The IDEE Sponsorship Prize is the only national award for innovative ideas of female entrepreneurs. Albert Darboven has been awarding this prize since 1997 to encourage women who dare to take the step into entrepreneurial independence.

Since 1866 J.J. Darboven has stood for the high quality of coffee, tea, and cocoa. The company was the first wholesale roaster to introduce fairtrade coffee at the beginning of the 1990s. This has been followed by many other products of Fairtrade and organic quality to this day.

H.E.L.P. - Successes and outlook

In the first three years of the project, H.E.L.P. has already made some great progress. For example, while the average yield per hectare of project participants before the start of the project was significantly below the national average, this has now become above average. H.E.L.P. will continue to support farmers in Honduras and has also set ambitious goals for the next five years.
