In addition to our coffee-growing related activities, we would also like to use H.E.L.P. to improve the educational conditions for children in Santa Bárbara. H.E.L.P. has selected three schools in San Nicolas, which are the current focus of the project.

H.E.L.P. is a support project with which we have been improving the growing, living and educational conditions of coffee farmers in Honduras since 2016. Due to the great demand and the many successes of H.E.L.P., the number of participants has steadily increased. On the following pages you will learn everything about the successes and goals of H.E.L.P..
Find out about H.E.L.P.
Since the start of H.E.L.P. in 2016 we are accompanying three project participants who, with their stories and challenges, are exemplary for the around 300 project participants. We are very pleased that Yolanda, Nora and Melvin have made great progress in the past few years.
Find out more about the project's participants
In the first three years of the project, H.E.L.P. has already made some great progress. For example, while the average yield per hectare of project participants before the start of the project was significantly below the national average, this has now become above average. H.E.L.P. will continue to support farmers in Honduras and has also set ambitious goals for the next five years.

Responsible Hot Beverage Specialist
J.J. Darboven is a full-range supplier of hot beverages, offering not only coffee but also high-quality tea and cocoa products. We have been selling organic and Fairtrade certified teas with our EILLES TEE brand since 1997. Nowadays our customers have a choice of 61 organic teas from our EILLES TEE and PLATEANUM brands, 35 of which have additional Fairtrade certification.
Our cocoa brand COCAYA also stands for quality, taste and sustainability. We have carried organic and Fairtrade certified articles in our cocoa assortment since 2010. Our large selection of teas and cocoas, which are based on high ecological and social standards, enables our catering partners to demonstrate their conduct and sense of responsibility.
We have been working with Fairtrade since 1997 to improve the living and working conditions of the people at the origin. We are now expanding on this commitment: In the Ethical Tea Partnership, ETP for short, we have found an organisation that shares our goal for a socially just and ecologically sustainable tea trade.
The ETP is particularly committed to fair wage distribution, women's rights, and adequate protection for tea pickers. ETP expert teams are on site around the world and work closely with governments, producers, and aid organisations. Our membership application will be completed by 2018. The ETP-certified tea kinds are to be marketed under our EILLES TEE brand.
We do not use metal clips for our tea bags: The thread is attached in an environmentally friendly way with a knot. The jewelry box version of our Tea Diamonds® consists of 70% FSC-certified cardboard. FSC® stands for "Forest Stewardship Council®" and is an international certification system for wood and paper products from responsibly-managed forests.
All pyramid bags of our SANSIBAR Tea and PLATEANUM® brands as well as the entire organic range of EILLES TEE Tea Diamonds® are made of compostable corn starch, more precisely: bio-degradable PLA. The entire Tea Diamond® range - currently with 44 million pyramid bags delivered - is to be converted to biodegradable material by 2020. This reduces residual waste and saves resources.
With our broad COCAYA range we interpret hot chocolates and cocoa in a contemporary way and pay attention to regionality: In all our products, all whole and skimmed milk powder comes from Germany, mainly from Northern Germany. The same applies to our products without certification for sugar. We sweeten our organic and Fairtrade-certified assortment with cane sugar, which we purchase from Fairtrade cooperatives.
In 2017 we expanded our range of ecologically and socially sustainable drinks with COCAYA Premium Bio. Thanks to the high cocoa content at 25%, the hot chocolate offers conscious pleasure with a particularly intense chocolate note. The new variety is available as a practical Premium Bio Stick weighing 35 g and as a vendable 1 kg package in Fairtrade and organic quality.
