In addition to our coffee-growing related activities, we would also like to use H.E.L.P. to improve the educational conditions for children in Santa Bárbara. H.E.L.P. has selected three schools in San Nicolas, which are the current focus of the project.

H.E.L.P. is a support project with which we have been improving the growing, living and educational conditions of coffee farmers in Honduras since 2016. Due to the great demand and the many successes of H.E.L.P., the number of participants has steadily increased. On the following pages you will learn everything about the successes and goals of H.E.L.P..
Find out about H.E.L.P.
Since the start of H.E.L.P. in 2016 we are accompanying three project participants who, with their stories and challenges, are exemplary for the around 300 project participants. We are very pleased that Yolanda, Nora and Melvin have made great progress in the past few years.
Find out more about the project's participants
In the first three years of the project, H.E.L.P. has already made some great progress. For example, while the average yield per hectare of project participants before the start of the project was significantly below the national average, this has now become above average. H.E.L.P. will continue to support farmers in Honduras and has also set ambitious goals for the next five years.

At the place of origin - from the beginning
The people in our coffee’s countries of origin are particularly close to our hearts. To support them, we were the first major roaster to launch Fairtrade-certified coffee on the German market in 1993 - a pioneering achievement for which we received the Fairtrade Award in the “Producer" category in 2009.
Since 2016, we have been improving the living conditions of coffee producers in Honduras with our H.E.L.P. project. J.J. Darboven is not just committed to people but also to nature. For example, with certified organic products that are cultivated in a particularly environmentally friendly way.
Café Intención's Fairtrade and certified organic products offer a responsible way to enjoy high-quality coffee. Since the end of 2017, Café Intención has been encouraging caterers and consumers to think about fairness under the motto "Café Intención for Fair Thinkers".
For its 150 year anniversary in 2016, J.J. Darboven started a long-term support project for coffee farmers in Honduras. In the structurally weak region of Santa Barbara, 250 small farmers benefit from H.E.L.P.'s professional assistance in production planning and coffee cultivation. J.J. Darboven employees regularly check the progress on site. While the average annual yield of the participating farmers at the start of the project was still below that of the entire country, the yield increase of 80% in 2017 significantly exceeded the national average.
