In addition to our coffee-growing related activities, we would also like to use H.E.L.P. to improve the educational conditions for children in Santa Bárbara. H.E.L.P. has selected three schools in San Nicolas, which are the current focus of the project.

H.E.L.P. is a support project with which we have been improving the growing, living and educational conditions of coffee farmers in Honduras since 2016. Due to the great demand and the many successes of H.E.L.P., the number of participants has steadily increased. Since the start of H.E.L.P. in 2016 we are accompanying three project participants who, with their stories and challenges, are exemplary for the around 300 project participants. We are very pleased that Yolanda, Nora and Melvin have made great progress in the past few years.

In the first three years of the project, H.E.L.P. has already made some great progress. For example, while the average yield per hectare of project participants before the start of the project was significantly below the national average, this has now become above average. H.E.L.P. will continue to support farmers in Honduras and has also set ambitious goals for the next five years.

The Honduras Education Life Project is located in Santa Bárbara, one of the oldest but also poorest coffee growing areas in Honduras. Our on-site activities include promoting agricultural skills and imparting business knowledge.

Organic and Fairtrade project
Our quality policy is an essential and central component of our corporate philosophy and forms the basis for sustainable and economic success. Within the contect of our duty of care and with regards to our customers’ satisfaction as well as the assurance of continuous quality improvement, quality in our company is a central management task and thus integrates all managers with their activities and actions within the respective process chain in a responsible manner. This enables us to produce a safer, high-grade product of consistently higher quality.
Our products are subject to an in-house control system corresponding to the HACCP concept in accordance with the Regulation on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs and the "Codex Alimentarius" standards in order to protect the end consumer from risks in the best possible way.
Our green coffee purchasers make sure that only previously tested green coffees from the countries of origin and our long-standing suppliers are used for our quality coffees. The green coffee is only used in our products if the coffee meets our high quality requirements. Our quality assurance department has its own laboratory, in which physical quality controls of the specific parameters of the coffee are carried out continuously up to the packaged finished product. The laboratory data can be traced back at any time on the basis of the system-supported documentation.
In 1999 J.J. Darboven GmbH & Co KG implemented a certified quality management system in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:ff, in which the HACCP concept is also integrated. Furthermore, we have been certified according to the International Food Standard, Version 6, Higher Level since 2005. A high IFS level goes without saying for us since the we first obtained a certification in 2005. Every year we can successfully reconfirm this .
Both the external auditors from certification companies and auditors from the companies we supply regularly check the in-house control system for conformity with the corresponding documentation. In this way, we ensure that our QM system is regularly reviewed by means of internal and external audits.
Fairness is our ultimate goal. We pay attention to much more than just quality, variety, country of origin, and processing in all our products. We are convinced that socially and ecologically sustainable trade is also a basic prerequisite for long-term economic success. This is why we have been following self-established guidelines for many years. Thanks to them, we are able to create what is dear to all of us: Coffee that is “good” in the truest sense of the word.
