Since the beginning of 2015, the Ronald McDonald House with Oasis in Hamburg-Altona has opened its doors to parents of seriously ill children directly at the Altona Children's Hospital. With 11 apartments, it offers around 250 families a temporary home every year.
The second Ronald McDonald House in Hamburg also stands out as a very special building: It has an integrated oasis for families whose children need outpatient treatment. The parents' house was planned in such a way that the common areas, such as the kitchen, living room, and playroom, can also be used by outpatients and their relatives as a retreat during the day. This additional benefit for the clinic’s patients is made possible by the location directly on the clinic building. The Ronald McDonald House with Oasis in Hamburg-Altona extends over approximately 750 m² on the first floor and roof terrace above the cafeteria of the Altona Children's Hospital. The short distances to the children's treatment rooms and sickrooms allow the parents to provide their little heroes with healing proximity.
J.J. Darboven supports the Hamburg-Altona Ronald McDonald House with Oasis with a sponsorship for the roof terrace. The parents and siblings can relax here, escaping everyday hospital life and engaging with other families. In addition, J.J. Darboven generously supports the oasis with coffee, tea, and cocoa, so that the families find a home for a time.
